On Sunday, December 29, 2024, the project, in collaboration with The Experience Walking Street Chiang Mai Hotel, will host a marketplace event. The event will feature partnerships with 20 communities, including tourism-based communities (CBT), handicraft communities, and safe agriculture communities. This activity aims to trial green economy strategies, connecting entrepreneurs and local communities for mutual benefits.
“Building a Green Economy – Chiang Mai Style”
Chiang Mai has spearheaded this effort with a pilot project to enhance the supply chain for hotel businesses in Chiang Mai Municipality and surrounding economic clusters based on the green economy concept. Led by Assistant Professor Dr. Nikorn Mahawan and a team of academics from the Faculty of Architecture and Environmental Design at Maejo University, the project focuses on:
Currently, several hotels within the municipality have joined the initiative, along with local communities. These collaborations foster the exchange of products, raw materials, and cultural elements, such as Lanna cultural performances. Efforts also include environmental management, such as reducing food waste by using black soldier fly larvae to process organic waste.
